It’s reasonable to reduce it as much as practical, but just because it can be measured doesn’t always mean it needs to be addressed. I’m not suggesting that latency should be ignored. If you’re a foot closer to the left or right speaker, that in itself will introduce 1 ms of latency between the two channels. The speed of sound in air is about 1 ms per foot. If anyone is very concerned about small amounts of latency, be careful how you’re positioned relative to your speakers. Latency of 4 - 5 ms is unlikely to be audible - it typically requires about double that for it to be discerned. To put things in perspective, given 31,250 bps MIDI, just to transmit a single note-on message (three bytes) takes about 1 ms. No MIDI system is completely free of latency, and it’s not unusual for MIDI to introduce 1 - 2 ms of it. Must be something with you setup that is the cause of this behavior. I setup Kontakt to send MIDI OUT on Yamaha MOXF6/MOXF8-3 I setup Kontakt to receive MIDI IN from Yamaha MOXF6/MOXF8-1 My goal is to both trigger Kontakt 5 (installed in my mac) and Korg Kronos at the same time :) My problem is I when play the MOXF keyboard, it sendt midi through USB-cable to trigger Kontakt 5, Konakt 5 “sends midi to outside world”, back to MOXF which send it out to my Korg Kronos - 4-5 ms delayed. I have good controll of the audio latency :) Generally, anything under 10 - 20 ms is pretty good, although many musicians can be annoyed by more than only 5 ms. At that point you will have found the lowest latency possible with your configuration (interface, software, etc.). And yes, “latency” is ALWAYS a function of the audio interface and audio settings. Keep increasing the buffer size until the problems go away. There is no setting on the MO X to adjust. If you are launching Kontakt 5 in a DAW (Cubase, Logic, Digital Performer, etc.) you have to adjust your buffer setting in the DAW itself. Set it by either typing in the numeric field or by moving the slider. The more I read it the less sense it makes…Ĭlick on the “Options” tab (the “gear” icon at the top, to the left of “Purge” tab).Īt the bottom is the “Latency” setting. Is Kontakt 5 your DAW? A synth module? What is its role in this… If it is a tone generator (synth) what is the purpose of the Kronos in all if this… What is the DAW you are using, if any… You don’t mention any. Please re-read you post and correct what you’re trying to tell us. I see some clues in here but I don’t really understand what you are doing. It works for pad-sounds, but not for playing piano-sounds. Is there any way to solve this? When I us “normal†midi out directly from MOXF to the Kronos there is no noticeable latency, but when I use the MOXF as a audio/midi-interface ther is latency. Works fine exept for a little bit of latency - to much actually. Why are you routing it through the MOXF if the destination is the Korg Kronos? Perhaps I don’t know what Kontakt 5 is… What MIDI data does it generate? Not sure what you are doing with its description, but I’ll just say. I’ sending midi out from Kontakt 5 through MOXF and out to a Korg Kronos. I am using Kontakt 5 on my MacBook Pro with my MOXF8, and have installed the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver.
